One of the four suspected armed robbers who with the others engaged a security team pursuing them, after a robbery at Laklevikope, near Denu, in a gun battle, has been arrested.
Korbla Bikor, 22, unemployed, and his gang had allegedly robbed Madam Forgive, 48, a Drinks Depot Operator.
A source close to the Aflao Police told the GNA, Wednesday that the four, at around 0530 hours, Tuesday, entered the trader’s house by scaling the wall of the house.
They then knocked her door and her 13-year old daughter, unsuspectingly opened the door.
The source said two of the robbers molested the victim’s daughter, who screamed, drawing the victim out.
He said the robbers held Madam Sokpor at gun point and pushed her into the room, took her hand bag containing her business depot and car keys only.
The source said the raiders, who had a pump action gun and an AK 47 rifle, also took six cellular phones before fleeing as alarmed passersby screamed.
A joint military/police patrol team was called and they chased the robbers through the lagoon up to Ziorme, near Aflao, towards Lome, Togo, where they (robbers) engaged the patrol team in a gun battle before escaping.
Bikor was however arrested in an uncompleted building in the area with three of the victim’s cellular phones in his pocket.
Meanwhile, a 48 year old man, name withheld, who was shot in the abdomen, while helping the military/police team to track the robbers, is on admission at a hospital in Aflao, where he had been operated upon.
