The Central North Command of the Ghana Police Service is actively pursuing a group of unidentified assailants responsible for the robbery of a 41-year-old Cocoa District Officer in the Assin Fosu Municipality of the Central Region on Thursday. The assault on Lucas Osei occurred around 0200 hours in New Habitat, a suburb of Assin Fosu.

Four masked robbers, armed with machetes and scissors, attacked the victim while he was asleep. They absconded with GH¢100,000, two laptops, and two mobile phones, leaving Mr. Osei with severe injuries.

Eyewitnesses reported finding the victim in a pool of blood after he cried out for help. They promptly rushed him to St. Francis Xavier Hospital in Fosu for medical attention.

A team of police officers, led by Superintendent Kwabena Darkoh, the Central North Regional Crime Officer, responded swiftly to the emergency call. Despite their prompt action, the suspects had fled the scene before the officers' arrival.

Following the incident, the Central North Regional Commander visited the hospital to obtain firsthand information about the attack. "The investigation is ongoing, and our aim is to arrest and prosecute the assailants. This will serve as a deterrent to others," he stated.

The Command has issued an appeal to the local residents, urging them to come forward with any information that could lead to the capture of the assailants. The police have also reassured the community of their commitment to maintaining peace and order, ensuring that residents can carry out their daily activities without fear or panic.
