A Scrap Dealer, Ambrose Hevi, was on Wednesday remanded by an Accra Circuit Court, for stealing 250- metre drop wire cable, worth GH? 500.00, belonging to Vodafone Ghana Limited.
Ambrose was said to have conspired with one Obidi, now at large to steal the cables on May 29, at Baatsona.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges, but was remanded by the court presided over by Mr Aboagye Tandoh to reappear on June 18.
The prosecution, Police Chief Inspector Kwabena Adu, told the court that the complainant Peter Arhin is a Security man at Resolve Medical Centre located at Baatsona and residing at Teshie, while Ambrose, 19 years, is a Scrap Dealer residing Ashaiman.
He said on May 29, the complainant who was on duty saw the accused person folding the stolen cable into his sack, as his accomplice watch to make sure no one is coming.
The prosecutor said however his accomplice took to his heels on seeing the complainant, but he managed to apprehend Ambrose and handed him over to the Police at Community 18 and lodged a formal complainant.
Police Chief Inspector Adu told the court that Ambrose admitted the offence in his caution statement in the presence of an independent witness.
He said the police then contacted Vodafone Ghana Limited who identified the cable.
