Seamstress remanded for slashing woman's cheek

Akim Swedru (E/R), April. 3 GNA - The Akim Swedru Circuit Court in the Birim South District of the Eastern Region, on Thursday remanded a seamstress in police custody for inflicting wounds on another woman with blade. Jumai Abdulai Rahaman pleaded guilty to assault and was remanded in police custody, awaiting sentence on Friday, April 4. Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Osei Kwadwo told the court, presided over by Mr. Edward Bosompim Apenkwa that the complainant, Madam Binto Adamu, a farmer was going to her farm sometime in March, this year when she spotted her daughter and Jumai fighting.

Chief Inspector Kwadwo stated that Madam Adamu and other witnesses around separated the two women, adding that the accused person who was not satisfied went to arm herself with blade and returned to the scene. According to him, Jumai suddenly attacked Madam Adamu and in the process, managed to slash her left cheek many times with the blade. The Prosecutor said the complainant was saved by the police who were on duty around the scene from further punishment.
