Seniagya police make a passionate appeal for assistance

Seniagya (Ash), April 10, GNA - The Seniagya police in the Sekyere East district of Ashanti have appealed to the police administration to urgently rehabilitate the police station to make it habitable. They contend that since its establishment in 1975, the police station has not seen any renovation or improvement of the infrastructure.

Making the appeal through the Ghana News Agency (GNA) after inspection of the station, Inspector Gabriel Dzitornu, officer in-charge of the station, said the lack of communication facility, a vehicle, toilets and other sanitation facilities at the station deterred officers from staying there.

He said police personnel were refusing postings to the town due to lack of these facilities and that currently only two officers were responsible for the over 100 communities in the area. In another development, Mr Kofi Addai Boateng, assemblyman for Seniagya, has appealed to the government for the early completion of a 20-kilometre Effiduase-Seniagya road, which was awarded on contract about five years ago.

He also appealed to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to complete the town's electrification project, saying that the community had purchased low-tension poles to the tune of 100 million cedis towards the project.
