Shoe Repairer jailed for stealing fowls

Nsuta (Ash), June 7, GNA - A Circuit Court at Nsuta has sentenced a 24-year-old Shoe Repairer to 36 months' imprisonment with hard labour for stealing fowls.

Kwaku Antwi, who changed his plea of guilty with explanation to guilty to stealing 14 fowls valued at 580,000 cedis, was convicted on his plea.

He stole the birds from Gyasiwah Farms in Jamasi. Prosecuting, Police Inspector Solomon Etrew told the Court that Antwi, a native of Mpobi now residing in Kumasi, was a former employee of the farm.

He said the caretaker, Mr Osei Kwabena discovered that some of the fowls were being stolen so he organised some people to keep watch over the farm.

Inspector Etrew said on May 1, this year at about 0400 hours, Antwi was seen at Bipoa, with some fowls in a basket and was about to board a Kumasi-bound vehicle.

Passengers in the vehicle became suspicious and arrested him with the fowls and sent him to the Agona Police station from where the case was transferred to Jamasi for investigations.
