Sign writer remanded in custody by Oguaa court

Cape Coast, Oct. 24, GNA- Kwame Ntiamoah a 22-year-old sign writer, who allegedly attempted to jump into the sea after escaping from lawful custody, was on Tuesday remanded in prison custody by a circuit court at Cape Coast.

He pleaded not guilty to unlawful entry, stealing and escaping from lawful custody, and would reappear on Friday November 2 2007. Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Hope Azasoo, told the court presided over by Mr Richard Asiedu-Badu that both the complainant and Ntiamoah live at Kokwadu near the University of Cape Coast (UCC).

He said on Monday at about 0430 hours, the complainant was asleep in his room when he suddenly heard an unusual noise behind his window, and saw someone picking something from his room through the window. He said the complainant raised the alarm and Ntiamoah took to his heels, but was chased and arrested with the assistance of others and a mobile phone he confessed picking from the complainant's room was found on him.

Chief inspector Azasoo said whiles Ntiamoah was being interrogated at the police station, he escaped from custody and ran to the beach and attempted jumping into the sea but the police managed to re-arrest him.
