A student who abducted and defiled a 14 year-old girl at Konongo in the Asante Akim Central Municipality is standing trial at the Juaso Circuit Court.
Bernard Adu, 18, who pleaded not guilty to two counts of abduction and defilement, has been remanded into Police custody to appear in court on daily basis.
Police Detective Inspector Birikorang Peasah, prosecuting, told the court presided over by Mr. Fredrick Tetteh that the victim lives with her mother at Konongo Zongo where the accused also resides.
Prosecution said the victim on April 14, at about 19:45 hours, left the house to attend to nature's call but did not return.
The next day, the mother combed every nook and cranny of the vicinity searching for the victim but could not find her.
The victim returned home on April 17 and narrated how she was locked up by the accused in his room and was defiled.
She had gone there to collect social studies pamphlet.
The Prosecutor further told the court that because of the fierce resistance the victim put up, the accused could not have his way till the third day after which she was released.
Victim’s mother then lodged a complaint with the police and the accused was arrested.
Detective Inspector Peasah said a police report issued for victim’s medical examination was returned duly endorsed by medical officers that she had indeed been defiled.
He was arraigned after investigations.
