The Police in Osu have arrested a popular susu collector for intentionally setting his shop ablaze in a bid to deceive people who have deposited money with him.

The man was arrested after residents who suspected he intentionally set fire to the shop attacked him and nearly lynched him.

Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Accra Police Command, DSP Efia Tengey confirmed on Angel FM that the Police were forced to go in to rescue the susu collector upon a tip off.

She said the Police could not immediately establish the reasons for the man’s actions adding that they are processing the man for court.

“We will be praying the court to remand him into Police custody so investigations can continue…they said he just wanted to do so just to lie to people that his shop got burnt so he can’t pay people, but we are yet to establish that…,” she added.

An eye witness however said the man has failed to pay them their cash.

The eye witness claimed he saw the man sprinkling petrol on the shop only to later set it ablaze.
