Tailor remanded for defilement

A 25 year-old tailor on Thursday appeared before an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly defiling a 12- year old girl at Alajo.

Ekow Annan charged with defilement has denied the offence.

The court presided over by Mrs Jennifer Myles Ahmed remanded Annan into Police custody to reappear on November 18.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sarah Acquah told the court the court that the complainant was a 34 -year old petty trader who live with the victim at Alajo in Accra.

ASP Acquah said the accused person also live at Alajo. During the month of September this year, the victim went to visit the accused person at his shop after which she introduced her friend to the accused.

Prosecution said after the introduction, Annan convinced the victim and he had sex with her and warned her not tell anyone.

Later, prosecution said the complainant detected some changes in the way the victim walked so she boiled some water for her to sit on it.

When the victim was unable to sit on the said water, she let the cat out of the bag. The complainant reported the incident to the Police at Tesano and a medical form was issued to her to send the victim to the hospital for examination and treatment.

When the complainant returned with the medical report, the case was referred to the Domestic Violence and Victim‘s Support Unit and subsequently, Annan was arrested but he denied the offence.

Prosecution said Annan however admitted in his caution statement that she saw the victim on the day of the incident.
