Tape recorder thief before court

Ho, Apr 5. GNA-Evans Dzantor, 18, a Plumber, suspected to be a member of a car tape stealing syndicate which operates at the car parking lots at the SNNIT Flats in Ho was nabbed at dawn on Tuesday. He was arrested when a security alarm device on a car they attempted to break into went off alerting the owner who managed with the help of others to arrest him.

Two others who were with Dzantor escaped arrest with a car tape the gang had earlier stolen from a Hyundai Saloon car belonging to Mr Sammy Veddi, Volta Regional Manager of the Ghana News Agency (GNA). The thieves also ransacked Mr Veddi's car, throwing out documents and old spare parts and also damaged the electronic door and side glass control system.

Police sources at the Central Ho Police Station confirmed the story and said Dzantor was being processed for court.

There had been regular reports of break-into-cars at the SSNIT Flats in Ho, which is mainly inhabited by workers, lately. The thieves allegedly force open the cars with master keys and in some cases cut through the side glasses.
