An Accra Circuit Court on Tuesday remanded a 19-year-old teacher, James Brew Mensah, for defiling a six-year-old girl.

James, who pleaded not guilty to the charge, was remanded by the court to reappear on December 10.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector J. B Asante told the court that the victim is a pupil of New Creations Primary School, Alajo, while the accused person is a teacher of the above-mentioned school and also lives at Kokomlemle.

He said on November 18 at about 1600 hours, James lured the victim into one of the school toilets meant for the pupils after close of school. While in the toilet, he locked the door and sat on the toilet then removed his penis and made the victim sit on his lap.

He said James, thereafter, inserted his penis into the victim’s vagina, but the victim started crying and that compelled him to stop the act.

The prosecution said, James, after the act told the victim to mention one Sir Joshua, who was no longer teaching in the school as the one who defiled her. He threatened to cut off her head if she dares mention his name to anyone.

He told the court that the victim’s friend, one Faisal, alerted her that she was bleeding from the vagina when they stopped to urinate on their way to the house from school.

Police Inspector Asante said when she got home her father saw her bleeding from the vagina and quickly rushed her to the hospital. On the way to the hospital, she narrated her ordeal to her father.

He said a complaint was lodged, and a police medical form was issued to the victim to be sent to the hospital for treatment.

The accused person was subsequently arrested and in his caution statement he denied the offence of having had sexual intercourse with the victim.
