Teenage unemployed sentenced for stealing

An 18-year unemployed arrested over the theft of cash of GH¢15,000 has been sentenced to six months imprisonment by a Kumasi Circuit Court.

Matthew Opoku, alias “Atwerh” broke into a cold store at Asuofua in the Atwima-Nwabiagya District on November 21, at about 2200 hours.

He was charged with unlawful entry and stealing and he pleaded guilty.

Police Chief Inspector Comfort Baffour Kyei told the court presided over by Mrs. Afia Adu-Amankwah, that he was arrested by members of the community’s neighbourhood watch committee.

They spotted him coming out of the market and after a hot chase, seized and handed him over to the police.
