Tema, March 22, GNA - The Tema Circuit Court 'B' on Tuesday remanded Michael Ofotsu Dadeboe for allegedly stealing his fianc=E9's foreign currencies.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge of stealing but admitted committing the offence in the course of the trail. He is to reappear on March 28.
Police Chief Inspector Daniel Martey said the accused used to stay with Gifty Occansey, the complainant, in her house at Ashaiman Jericho and during their stay together, the complainant's sister who resides outside the country sent her some dollars and CFA for safekeeping. On January 06 the complainant went for the envelops containing the monies to be given to one of her sisters but realized that 40 dollars was removed from the envelop and replaced with a folded paper and sealed.
She also detected that 590 out of the 1,000 CFA and 4.8 million cedis were also missing from the room.
Prosecution told the court that when the complainant questioned Dadeboe about the missing money he admitted taking it and promised to refund it but later left their Ashiaman residence.
