Teshie: Acid attack blinds woman, 24

The Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service is on the hunt for a 35-year-old man, who poured acid on her ex-lover and bolted after the act.

The suspect, Peter Kwasi Boadi, a driver and resident of Teshie, allegedly poured the corrosive substance on his former girlfriend, Patience Okordzi, 24, after an argument between the two on the morning of February 7, 2016.

According to DOVVSU, the pair spent the Christmas holidays in the Ashanti Region, as Boadi wanted to introduce her to his family.

However, Patience learnt during the visit that despite assertions by his boyfriend that he had been a virgin until they met, Boadi had a son living with his family.

She, thus, broke up with him, despite his pleas for forgiveness.

On February 7, Boadi invited Patience over to his residence with the lure of cash. While there, an argument ensued between them, during which he bathed the lady with acid stored in a container in his room.

Patience’s screams for help attracted some persons, who came to her rescue and took her to the hospital. In addition to scalds on her head, Patience lost her sight, as a result of the attack.

Patience has been transferred to the Burns Unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for further treatment, while Boadi remains on the run.
