Trader charged for offensive conduct

A trader, Elizabeth Naa Odey Sackey, who allegedly used abusive language on one Angela Mills, and threatened to kill her with a kitchen knife has been granted bail by an Accra Circuit Court.

Elizabeth who was charged for offensive conduct and threat of death, pleaded not guilty to both charges and was granted bail in the sum of GH¢ 5,000.00 with two sureties, one of whom must be an Assemblyman.

Prosecuting Police Chief Inspector, Tassan told the court that the complainant is an ECG prepaid seller at Abossey Okai and lives at Dome, while Elizabeth is a trader at Abossey Okai and lives at the same area.

He said on September 8, the accused person rained insults on the complainant to wit useless woman, stupid woman, foolish woman and many other abusive languages.

The prosecution said the complainant warned the accused to desist from her behaviour, but she became more aggressive and dashed into a nearby house, brought out a kitchen knife and threatened to stab Elizabeth with it.

Police Chief Inspector Tassan said a witness in the case managed to retrieve the knife from the accused person.

The accused again went into her provision shop, pulled a pair of scissors and attempted to stab the complainant with it.

The complainant reported the matter to the police and Elizabeth was arrested.
