Trader remanded for pouring acid on colleague

A 33-year-old woman, Vida Odame Boadi, who allegedly poured acid on her fellow trader has been remanded into prison custody by the Akim Swedru Circuit Court in the Eastern Region.

The accused, who pleaded not guilty to causing harm would reappear on July 8, 2019.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Lawrence Ahiatsi told the court presided over by Mr Alexander Oworae that Madam Awo Dwomoh the complainant and victim and the accused person, live in the same area at Community ‘Six’ at Akim Oda.

Chief Inspector Ahiatsi said both the complainant and the accused have shops, which are opposite each other in the area, but they have not been in talking terms for the past two years.

He said on June 21, 2019, at about 2100 hours after Madam Dwomoh had closed from work, the accused laid ambush at the back of the complainant’s shop and poured acid on her.

Chief Inspector Ahiatsi said the complainant sustained burns on her face, chest and arms and was rushed to the Oda Government Hospital while Vida was arrested the following day.
