Techiman, (B/A) May 26, GNA - A Circuit Court in Techiman in the Brong Ahafo Region, Presided over by Mr. Justice Erasmus Gyinae, a High Court Judge has remanded two people into Police custody to reappear on May 27 for allegedly possessing fire arms. The suspects, Kwame Kakraba alias Fanti Kakraba 32, a mason and Kofi Kwukuura, 36 a trader, residents at New Krobo in the Techiman Municipality pleaded not guilty to the charge of possessing arms a G3 Raffle without lawful excuse contrary to section 192 Act 29/60. Chief Inspector Sampson Y. Jebuni, prosecuting told the Court that on May 21 this year Madam Elizabeth Owusu of Goshine a suburb of Techiman put up a building at New Krobo also a suburb of Techiman and gave out a room to Kakraba Fanti to stay in as a caretaker.
Chief Inspector Jebuni said the cordial relationship between the land- lady and Kakraba degenerated into a fracas in January this year. He told the court that as a result of the behaviour of Kakraba, Madam Elizabeth Owusu ordered the caretaker to quit the premises but he refused and consequently Madam Owusu decided to eject the suspect.
Chief Inspector Jebuni said whilst they were removing Kakraba Fanti's properties from the premises, they saw a G3 Raffle with registration number G0F25823 concealed in a sack and reported the matter to the Techiman Police.
He said when Kakraba Fanti was arrested he mentioned Kofi Kwukuunra as the one who gave him the raffle but Kwukuunra also mentioned one Kwaku, his customer at Amoma who gave him the raffle to sell. He told the court that the police pursued the matter to Amoma and the said Kwaku upon hearing the arrest and incident had since been on the run.
Prosecution said the Police immediately sent a wireless message to the Commander of the 3 BN who dispatched men and identified the G3 Raffle to be a Raffle of the Ghana Armed Forces. Police are searching for Kwaku, while the suspects have been remanded into police custody to re-appear on May 27.
