The Eastern Regional office of the Customs Excise and Preventive Services (CEPS) has impounded and detained two taxi cabs using the same registration number plates and registered at different locations.

The two cars, Nissan Amerra and Nissan Micra, were spotted and stopped during a swoop by the national CEPS taskforce with the same registration number GE 3219-17 embossed on them at Suhum.

The two taxi cabs, together with 34 other commercial and private vehicles, are currently under detention at the Regional CEPS office in Koforidua.

Disclosing this to Class FM's McAnthony Dagyenga in an interview in Koforidua, the Sector Commander for CEPS, Agnes Kafui Modey, explained, further investigations were being carried out to ascertain why the two taxi cabs have same registration number plates.

She also cautioned the public and potential vehicle buyers to validate vehicle documents before making a purchase.
