Yushaw Sulemana, a scrap dealer and Jemila Yushaw, a trader, on Wednesday appeared before the Takoradi Circuit Court “B” for allegedly stealing spare parts valued at GHC 2,110.
In the dock with them was Ambrouse Ettienne, a spare parts dealer, who is charged with dishonestly receiving seven pieces of bolts and nuts valued at GHC80.
Their pleas were not taken and granted GHC5,000 bail each to re-appear on first March.
Police Inspector Seth Ahelegbe said in December last year, Samuel Boakye Darkwa, a sprayer at the Kokompe Light Industrial Area at Takoradi, took his Mitsubishi pick up to a mechanic in the area for repairs.
He said the mechanic removed some spare parts from the vehicle and kept them in a sack at his workshop but found later that the spare parts had been stolen.
The mechanic informed Ettienne about the theft of the items and asked him to be alert because someone might sell them to him or other spare parts dealers.
Inspector Ahelegbe said the mechanic later went to the shop of Ettienne to buy some items and identified the stolen bolts and nuts and reported Ettienne to the police who arrested him.
Ettienne told the police that Jemila Yushaw sold the bolts and nuts to him and she was arrested.
She later told the police that she found the bolts and nuts in the scraps of Yushaw Suleman and he was also arrested.
