The Winneba District Magistrate’s Court has remanded two foreign nationals, a Nigerian and a Guinean for robbery and the killing of a 55-year-old Security man at Glory Oil Filling station at Ansaful a suburb of Winneba on the Winneba-Agona Swedru Road.
The pleas of John Okecko, the Nigerian and Mamady Unkroah, the Guinean were not taken and the Court presided over by Mr. Charles Oheneba-Kufour remanded them into police custody to re-appear on Friday, August 23, 2019.
ASP Oppong Agyekum, Winneba District Police Crime Officer who briefed the Ghana News Agency in an interview, said the complainant in the case is an attendant at the filling station, while Johnson Botwey native of Winneba is the deceased.
He said, on Thursday, July 26, 2018, at about 0530 hours the female attendant of the Station reported to the police that she reported to work, and found out that the two offices of the filling station were ajar and later detected that the place had been ransacked.
ASP Agyekum said, the attendant told the Police that she went round and found that some monies kept in a drawer have been stolen and the security man to the place was lying dead behind the office.
The Crime officer said police quickly rushed to the scene and found the deceased lying in a supine position behind the office with both legs and hands tied with net, with blood spots all over the area.
He said further investigation on the body by the Police revealed a deep cut on the right jaw and another cut on the right eye and that the dress he was wearing was soaked with blood.
He said the body was conveyed to the Effutu Municipal Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
ASP Agyekum said an intelligence by the District Police Patrol Team on that same day led to the arrest of Okecko at Gomoa Mpota on the Winneba- Accra road, who admitted the offence during interrogation saying he was also phone accessories dealer.
He said on Friday, July 27, 2018, Unkroah the Guinean was also arrested by some famers on the Winneba-Cape Coast road, who then called the Patrol team which came for him.
He said the Guinean also admitted to the crime and said he is a mason.
