Kade, Sept 13, GNA - Addo Nartey, a farmer and Fianko Isaac, a mason, both friends serving a total of four years in jail for stealing, were on Friday again convicted to 18 months imprisonment each in hard labour for a similar offence. They pleaded guilty when arraigned before the Kade District Magistrate Court for stealing a mobile phone and its charger, a plastic container and a coal pot belonging to Kingsley Asare, a teacher at Bomso in the Kwaebibirem District.
Police Chief Inspector Tetteh Zorh, prosecuting, told the court that the complainant travelled outside the town and on his return on August 23, detected that thieves had broken into his room and stolen those items.
He said the complainant informed his neighbours and friends about the theft, and shortly after he got to know that the Asuom police had arrested some thieves.
The complainant rushed to the place to find the plastic container and the coal pot, but not the phone and the charger. Before passing sentence, the judge asked Nartey and Fianko if they had anything to say, but they replied in the negative. He then asked them why they had targeted teachers since he had earlier jailed them for stealing from a teacher. The two fiends then replied that they did not know that their victims were teachers.
