Francis Arhin alias ‘Destiny’ and his accomplice Joshua Banteye who are illegal miners, pleaded not guilty.

The court presided over by Mr. Eric Baah Boateng adjourned the case to Friday 10th May 2019.

Prosecuting, Detective Sergeant Joseph Kwadwo Agyare, told the court that the complainant Benard Quaicoe, a farmer resides in the same vicinity with the accused persons at Yiwabra, in the Aowin Municipality.

He said on 11 April 2019, Arhin rented the complainant's unregistered motorbike at a fee of GH?10.00 under the pretext of going to Achimfo community.

He said Banteye who was waiting for Arhin at the outskirts of Yiwabra town, joined him and they rode to Jema without the consent of the complainant.

According to Detective Agyare when the accused persons arrived in Jema they attempted to sell the motorbike for GH?1,800.00 to some residents in the town.

He said the complainant after waiting for several hours and seeing no sign of Arhin and his motorbike, became alarmed and started searching for him in nearby villages but to no avail.

The police in Jema upon intelligence arrested Arhin and Banteye together with the motorbike.

Detective Agyare said the complainant later got to know of the arrest of the two and submitted the documents covering the motorbike to the police for inspection.

He said during the inspection they detected that the chassis number on the document match that of the motorbike they had in their custody.
