Two persons remanded for conspiracy to assault

Mankranso(Ash),July 7, GNA - Two persons, an auto mechanic and a trader have been remanded in prison custody by the Mankranso magistrate court in the Ahafo-Ano South District for conspiring to assault and assault.

Kwadwo Boamah, 18 and Kwadwo Sianka, a 19-year old co-accused both pleaded guilty to the two offences and will re-appear in court on July 11 for sentence.

Giving details of the case to the court, police Inspector Agyei Mensah, said accused persons were reported to have been always teasing one Agya Kwame Boakye (complainant) that he is a "dog". Agya Boakye, who got vexed with those taunts announced through a gong-gong beater to register his displeasure of being called by that name. He said June 28, accused persons who heard the announcement ignored it and still called complainant a dog, but when he approached them to warn them to stop, they pounced on him and brutally assaulted him.

Inspector Mensah further explained to the court, presided over by Mr. Frank Owusu-Afriyie, that after complainant had been rescued from his assailants by a witness in the case, he made a report to the Mankranso Police and a medical report issued for examination was returned endorsed by a medical superintendent at the Mankranso Hospital that he had actually been beaten Accused were subsequently arrested and charged after police preliminary investigations.
