Bibiani (W/R), April 8, GNA - Yaw Atta, 45 and Akwesi Annorpong, 38, both farmers were fined GH¢100 and GH¢250 respectively for disturbing public peace at Sefwi Humigebre in the Western Region. In addition, Annorpong was also charged for causing damage to property. Atta pleaded guilty but Annorpong pleaded not guilty to disturbing public peace, but pleaded guilty for causing damage to property worth GH¢42.00.
Atta would serve a month's imprisonment in default of the fine and Annorpong would serve three months should he fail to pay. Prosecuting Police Chief Inspector Alexandra Atobi told the court presided over by Mr Osei Kofi Amoako that the accused were relatives residing at Sefwi Humigebere and that about a month ago Annorpong's junior brother died.
Chief Inspector Atobi said after the funeral rites the family sat down to render accounts and while the meeting was in progress Annorpong, who was drunk, entered the house and started insulting all the family members. He said Atta advised Annorpong to stop disturbing but he became aggressive, leading to a scuffle between them.
