Kasoa (C/R), May 17, GNA-The Kasoa District Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mr Charles A. Adalong at the weekend tasked watchdog committees to initiate stringent measures to prevent criminals from infiltrating their ranks and file, to make them trustworthy.
ASP Adalong said it was necessary to purge the membership of watchdog committees to ensure that undesirable persons did not get information on their plans thereby thwarting crime preventive efforts. The District Police Commander said these when he was speaking on 'The role of Watchdog Committees", at a durbar of the people and opinion leaders of Kpormeitey, a suburb at Kasoa suburb to discuss crime preventive strategies.
He commended the watchdog committees in the district for assisting the police in reducing the rate of armed robbery and other crimes in the area, but requested for the list of members for vetting to ensure that they were without blemish.
ASP Adalong said the Police had information that some people disguised themselves as workers of a construction firm in Kasoa but operate as robbers in the night.
He, however, warned the public against instant justice instead they should report suspects to police for investigations. Mr Oppey Abbey, Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya Constituency said government was assessing a World Bank loan for the provision of water in the district.
