Wine thieve nabbed

Two friends who decided to steal a number of assorted wines from a wine shop in Accra to celebrate the Christmas have been grabbed by the police.

The suspects, Hayford Boateng and Micheal Nyamem, residents of Agbogbloshie and Awoshie respectively, allegedly, stole the bottles of wine after deceiving the shop attendant.

Narrating the story to DAILY GUIDE, Chief Superintendent Frank Adufati said on Thursday, November 22, 2012, while the complainant was at the shop selling, the two suspects entered and informed him that his manager (name withheld) has sent them to come for some quantities of assorted drinks from the shop.

The attendant, who suspected the boys were being deceptive, requested that they wait for him to confirm their claim from the manager on phone before carrying out the orders.

The two men immediately packed the drinks into their Toyota Camry with registration number, GW 8860-12 and attempted to escape.

The attendant quickly shouted for help. Sensing danger, the two suspects took to their heels and abandoned their vehicle. The police was immediately informed for further action.

The suspects were later arrested by the police and upon interrogation, they admitted to the offence of stealing.

The manager of the shop, who later reported to the station, denied sending them for drinks. The manager also denied knowing the suspects.

The two would, therefore, be put before court for stealing. The Accra Regional Crime Officer urged sellers to note the new trend of criminals and be cautious of their actions.
