A 23-year old man, William Ayikpe, who defiled a 13-year old girl, has been sentenced to 18 years imprisonment in hard labour by the Juaso Circuit Court.
The convict lured the girl into his room and took advantage of the victim when she went to his house to demand her money for a doughnut he purchased from her.
Ayikpe, who has been on trial since October 2013, pleaded not guilty to the defilement charge , but the Court found him culpable after the trial and, subsequently, convicted him.
Inspector Joseph Obeng told the Court, presided by Mr Fredrick Tetteh, that both the convict and the victim were residents of Achiase, and in early October 2013, the convict bought GHc 2.00 worth of doughnuts from the victim and gave her a GHc10.00 note.
He said since the victim could not give him his change, Ayikpe asked her to go back later for the money but for several days, the convict who already knew what he was up to, refused to give her the money anytime she approached him.
Inspector Obeng said on October 29, 2013 the victim went to convict’s house after school to collect the money only to be lured into the room, where he forcibly had sex with him.
He said the loud screams of the victim who could not bear the excruciating pain, attracted the attention of one Madam Yaa Asantewaa, a tenant in the house (complainant in the case), who went to her rescue.
Inspector Obeng said Madam Asantewaa found the victim bleeding from the private part and reported the case leading to the arrest and the prosecution of the convict.
