The Columbus District of the Church of Pentecost begins 21 days of fasting and prayer at the 21-Day Holy Spirit Conference from Monday, July 5 to Sunday, July 25, 2010.
The daily fasts, during which members will voluntarily go without food in order to focus on prayer and fellowship with God, will involve members from all the assemblies in the district. In the course of the 21 days, there will be prayer services from Mondays to Fridays from 6.30 pm to 9.00 pm at the Columbus Central Assembly (1815 Woodland Avenue).
The theme for the fast, taken from 2 Corinthians 3:18, is “Being Transformed by the Spirit of God.”
According to District Pastor Rev. Joseph Antwi, when you fast, you suppress the desires of the flesh and allow the spirit part of your being to be constant communication with God.
“Fasting makes you more sensitive to the things of the spirit and opens you up for a deeper relationship with God. With a deeper relationship with God, we become aligned to God’s priorities – that is when we experience the benefits of our relationship with Him.”
The program will feature Rev. Mbanyane Mhango, Overseer Frank Asirifi, Minister Kenneth and the Soul Winners, as well as the Trumpet of Christ.
The district pastor extends a special invitation to the entire Ghanaian community in and around Columbus to participate and share in the experience.
