75 arrested as prostitution ring broken up in Spain

75 people have been arrested in Roquetas de Mar in Almería, Spain in connection with a prostitution and illegal immigration ring.

Eight homes were searched by police along with seven ‘alterne’ clubs, and computer material and even items connected with voodoo ritual were seized. Most of the searches were carried out in the area known as ‘Las 200 Viviendas’ and on the La Mohonera road.

Immigration officers from Madrid, Valencia and Almería took part in the operation, according to the newspaper ‘La Voz de Almería’.

It seems that group of Nigerians convinced women from their country to come to Europe with the promise of work, but obliged them into prostitution once here. Most of those arrested are from Nigeria, but some are from Ghana, Morocco, Sudan and Spain.

A tip off from four Nigerians led to police breaking the case.
