It is surprising that Agave Development Association in the UK had 20 members and rising to become a force to be reckoned with in the name of giving back and making a difference in the Agave community in Ghana. The 2006 event takes place at the Brixton Academy, Saturday, February, 18th.
Read their amazing story;
ADA started 6 years ago as small fry, an unknown charity. Now we are established, ready to steal the show as a high profile association with a mission to accomplish.
ADA is appealing to all Ghanaians and non-Ghanaians intellectuals, professionals and others wanting to give something back into the community, to join the transformation vision of the Agave District, in the Volta Region. The people of the Agave district are determined to turn their under development to an opportunity of real advanced development.
?Do your little bit of good where you are: it?s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world?, (Archbishop Desmond Tutu). ADA is living with the people, loving them, starting with what they have, and building on what they have. However, of the best leaders when their task is accomplished, their work is done and the Agave people all remark, ? We have done it ourselves?.
Our achievement so far within six years:
We have successfully funded and distributed school furniture to over 30 primary schools within the Agave District from the money raised so far and inaugurated ADA Ghana on 30th December 2005 to work in partnership with ADA - U.K
We acquired a large piece of land for the construction of our future major project, that is, a community centre to provide facilities like library, counselling, and computer training suite. We are proud to say we channelled your generous donations so far to purchase some hospital equipment for our local hospital.
We have been engaged in voluntary schemes to help Agave District as a whole, and formed various committees to tackle issues like education and culture, sports promotion, improving the environment and health.
We always support members in times of need.
ADA wishes to thank Ghanaweb for their continued support, all our committed members both here and internationally, and all other well-wishers. Your support to ADA is always paramount to us. Please feel free to share your suggestions with members. Thus we welcome the opportunity to exchange ideas with such a wide range of other agencies. ADA is here to listen, to help and enable the Agave of tomorrow.
