President Akufo-Addo yesterday worshipped at the US National Cathedral in Washington D.C. after touring the facility.
The president, who is attending the US National Governors’ Association meeting in Washington D.C. as special guest, joined the early morning mass at the St Mary’s Chapel of The Cathedral for The Fruit of The Mind.
He was accompanied by some of the US Governors; Ghana’s Ambassador to the US, Dr Adjei Barwuah and Kwabena Darko of Darko Farms fame, among other officials.
President Akufo-Addo, who had conceived the idea of Ghana having a national cathedral and consequently cut the sod to that effect, took the opportunity to tour the US cathedral where he informed his hosts that a similar facility is being built in Ghana.
The president was taking round the facility by The Very Rev Randolph Marshall Hollerith, Dean of the Washington National Cathedral.
He visited the children’s and the veterans’ wings, among other important areas of the facility.
The First Sky Group recently donated GH¢1 million and building materials towards the construction of Ghana’s national cathedral, and this was announced by President Akufo-Addo at last year’s 60th independence anniversary celebration.
