Ghanaian living in Melbourne will be holding first debut art exhibition on the 3rd of August in Fitzroy, Melbourne.
A little about my exhibition:
An eclectic art collection imbued by moments, lessons and epiphanies; Edem Badu recreates and freezes time as she signs off 'msbadu' against a vibrant backdrop of an afrostyle.
Her work opens up an element of creativity and liberation for individuals to interpret any way they feel. Bringing art back to its simplest form, she challenges the viewer to give their interpretation, as such challenging them to inspire her - with their natural soulful views.
Her collection has slowly come together over years of experimenting with a diverse range of colours and techniques, styles and mediums. More so, having a story behind each piece.
Drawn to the more raw, natural and earthy feel, most of her pieces are created on wood board with cultural elements from her Ghanaian heritage - remaining connected to her roots.
Edem Badu currently resides in Melbourne, Australia. Self taught Ghanaian born artist, she has slowly embraced her creativity allowing others to experience her work. Expressing herself in the form of art and poetry.
Ms Badu explains "It's easier to express how I feel visually than verbally. I create for me; and I believe people seem to admire the results. I find that sometimes we get caught up in society’s perceptions of what we should be, rather than what we can be, and what we are. If I can inspire others with my work by not worrying about social perceptions and ideologies but by doing what feels right in my soul naturally, then I have accomplished what I came here for".
