The High Cross United Reformed Church in Seven Sisters, North London went agog with thanksgiving revelry on 30th March 2008 when The Rt. Rev Dr. Kwaku Frimpong-Manson Bishop of Reconciliation International in North London celebrated his 5th Consecration Anniversary.
Bishop Frimpong-Manson works within the North London multi-cultural community and across the country. In the multi-cultural Inner City area of his bishopric, he is a strong voice on behalf of the underprivileged and the vulnerable. His confidential, sensitive and practical support to the communities in his North London Bishopric has earned him much well deserved respect by people from all sectors of the community.
Bishop Frimpong has taken time to do extensive developmental work with the Youth especially those who are regarded as the most excluded and ‘at risk’. His Reconciliation International Church holds weekly Family and Youth workshops which have been hugely successful, with the participating young people and parents coming from all backgrounds. The workshop is interdenominational and attending parents are encouraged to discuss issues in an informal environment with other parents, providing the necessary and vital networking possibilities for parents to share their burdens and find out where to get professional advice and support. With his Mother Tongue Youth Affairs Programme, Bishop has successfully forged a link between the attendee Youth of the African Diaspora and those who remain in Africa. Through drumming workshops, culture events showcasing Africa culture and language workshops, these youth have an opportunity to rediscover basic but crucial aspects of their root cultures. The experiences they gain from these workshops help them to cherish their true cultural heritage. Over the past five years more than 3000 families have benefited from Bishop Frimpong’s Bereavement Counselling, Support and Advice. Befriending and consoling afflicted families in their time of greatest need has proved crucial in keeping them focused on their immediate and future needs. He provides this deep level of care, purely on a voluntary basis and asks for no remuneration. This disposition to provide spiritual guidance and support to families in trying times is a feat unrivalled in many ethnic minority communities and certainly within the Ghanaian Community.
Bishop Frimpong-Manson is accomplished Radio and TV Broadcaster. He presents a daily Community News Programme on local Radio offering information on current development in the community and the UK at large.
His RECON COMMUNITY LEADERS AWARDS is internationally recognised. It has been held thrice in the UK IN 2004,2005 and 2007. The award ceremony was held in Italy in 2006 to recognise the work being undertaken by heroes and heroines in that country. Similar initiative will be extended to Germany this year and to other countries throughout the world in the subsequent years, to act as an incentive for those individual who continue to work with their efforts unrecognised Bishop Frimpong-Manson reiterated.
