In his resignation, he expressed his profound gratitude towards the executives and entire Ghanaian community for their trust, confidence and unflinching support during his tenure in office.

As to what led to his resignation, the out-going chairman attributed it to his "prolonged illness last year which has affected his business and personal life immensely.

The executives of the community met him behind closed doors, accepted his resignation, eulogized his achievements and planned to give him a befitting farewell party. Per the constitution of the community, BEN OWUSU-ACHIAW who is the Vice Chairman of the community shall act as the Chairman until an election is held to choose the leader.
