Cook County Treasurer Honors African Spectrum

CHICAGO:- Recognition is a tool of appreciation. African Spectrum would like to thank Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas for believing in our cause. For nine straight years, her office has presented us with letters of admiration. This year however, Ms. Pappas invited us to her office at the County/City Hall Building to present us with this citation.

It is the efforts like these that makes us proud and continue to do what we do. We would like to thank our staff particularly Editor Kwadwo Kyei, Serwah Akoto-Coker, Sam Asare, Florence Logan, Marie Bastounes and all our correspondents for their meticulous contributions.

Support from our readers and advertisers are the lifeline to our existence. Without their encouragement and sustenance, we are nothing. We recognize their patronage and thank them immensely for subscribing and placing their ads in this newspaper. April 1999 gave birth to our maiden issue. In our ninth year, our vow to continue with the distillation of knowledge by covering positive issues pertaining to the people of the Diaspora remains intact. Leaving a legacy for our children should come to mind when reading and supporting this newspaper. As we continue to provide services to our community, one should remember that no matter how full the river, it still wants to grow.
