Coronavirus: Asante Agonafo in Diaspora supports fight in Sekyere South

Agonafo in Diaspora, a group of citizens from Asante Agona, domiciled in Europe and America, has donated quantities of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the Agona government hospital.

The items worth GHc 15, 000.00, included hand gloves, detergents, soaps, Veronica buckets, hand sanitizers, nose masks, tissue papers and others, were to support the health officials and other front line officers in the fight against the spread of the coronavirus in the area.

Mr Emmanuel Atuahene, Local Representative of the group, who presented the items, said the gesture was the contribution of indigenes of Agona who were residing outside the town, both in Ghana and abroad, to support the fight against the spread of the virus.

He said health workers were more vulnerable to the coronavirus and there was the need to provide them with adequate protective items to guarantee their safety and motivate them to discharge their duties effectively.

Mr Atuahene appealed to citizens of the town and residing outside to come together to support the development process of their community to improve the living conditions of their people back home.

Mrs. Catherine Reckling, District Chief Executive for Sekyere South, who received the items on behalf of the hospital, thanked the group for the gesture and said they had come at a right time.

She said government needed the support of all Ghanaians to fight the further spread of the virus in their communities, and urged the people to adhere to all the preventive protocols outlined by the government to contain the virus.

Dr. Roberto-Frank Fiifi Otchere, Medical Superintendent of the hospital, expressed gratitude to the citizens of Agona for their continued support to the growth and development of the facility.

He appealed to other individuals and organizations to also come and support the hospital o enable it fight the spread of the virus in the district.
