Deborah Vanessa is billed to perform at the Glastonbury festival in the UK this June.
According to Vanessa, she is delighted to be the first woman to introduce azonto to the world.
“Receiving the email from the organizers at Glastonbury inviting me through the Fokn Bois is the best news I’ve heard this year,” she said.
She added, “Even though I’ve already started preparing; both mentally and sorting out dancers etc., I still can’t believe it."
"I feel it will finally hit me when I’m backstage waiting to be called. I’m also very happy because I would be introducing Ghana’s beloved dance Azonto to the biggest music festival in the UK.”
She says that being included is significant for her because of the people who have performed at the the festival in the past.
“It’s a huge deal… Groups like Swedish House Mafia and The Rolling Stones perform at Glastonbury! So for me being called to perform Uncle Obama on stage that Fokn Bois is headlining is perfectly amazing,” she stated.
The 2013 Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts is scheduled to be held June 26–30, 2013. It follows a fallow year, in which there was no festival.
She also added that preparations are underway for the program.
