Denkyira association of USA

GETS UP, STAND UP, AND BE COUNTED;

Throughout history it has been the inaction of those who could have acted, the indifference of those who should have known better, the silence of the voice of justice when it mattered most that has made it possible for evil to triumph (Emperor Haile Selaisse)

Alf Wright simply put “if you don’t hear it, you will feel it”
ADAWU, DAWU DENKYIRA, PENTEMPREM nananom, every generation is assigned the task of taking on the challenges of their era. Unfortunately some of these challenges must sometimes be met head-on or our total destruction.

GET UP, SATND UP AND BE COUNTED.

Pentemprem nananom, we are the face of this generation that have to confront these challenges. Baby boomers that should not ask what our paramountcy can do for us BUT ask what we can do for our “OMAN DENKYIRA” we should be able to come together to oppose any foe who will wish our downfall. With this cause we should bear in mind there will be a negative price to pay – Money, time, and retribution from the so- called big people from the corrupt and incompetent, and do nothing citizens of our own paramount area.
Our unity will be a big threat to our foes. In unity we are assured of enormous strength to move mountains. In unity we will be assured of survival and the success of Denkyira Traditional area.

GET UP STAND UP AND BE COUNTED.

As we all know, corruption and incompetency has assumed a frightening portion of our great nation (GHANA) and right now “THINGS HAVE FALLEN APART AND THE CENTER CANNOT HOLD” (CHINUA ACHEBE). Evidently the government turns a blind eye towards such a nation-wreck attitude. Therefore the only one to put a smiling face to your traditional area is you.

GET UP, STAND UP AND BE COUNTED.

Other traditional area citizens in North America are doing it so we can also do the same or even better if we want to.
On August 30th and 31st 2014, the Sons and daughters of “MOA NINKO” (OFINSO TRADITIONAL AREA) in the United States and Canada met at Toronto to address the deplorable conditions in their area and how to find a better solution to those situations. The atmosphere was cordial, lovely, beautiful and commendable.

At the end of the 2 day congress, there was a big fundraising to help the Saint Patrick hospital. On this same 2 days the Brong-Ahafo Association in North America also met in White Plains, New York to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars to ship medical equipments to Sunyani Government Hospital. Wow! What an action being taken by concerned citizens. May Almighty and Everlasting Father shower his blessings unto thee.

GET UP, STAND UP, AND BE COUNTED!

History teaches us that unity is strength, and causes us to submerge and overcome our differences in the quest for common goals to strive with all our combined strength for the path to true brotherhood.

As we all know, as Denkyira’s we are targeted by this incompetent ruling party’s extremists who have adopted the philosophy straight out of “MAD MEN or INCOMPETENCE EPISODE” that “if you are not for me, then you are against me”. You can also choose Divide and Rule as practiced by our former colonial masters or if you may then use the “POLICY OF POLITICS OF EXCLUSION” (POLITICO DE EXCLUSIONO) the option is yours which policy you want to choose.

It’s very clear and unquestionable the policy which this incompetent administration has adopted to subdue our paramountcy – DENKYIRA Traditional area-DTA
DENKYIRA MMA – GET UP, STAND UP AND BE COUNTED.
It’s not by accident, but designed by this administration to subdue our traditional area. Dunkwa –on-offin, the main city of the Denkyira’s has now become an island. Whilst the road networks reaching competing nodal settlements such as Setwi Wiawso, Bibiani. Fosu, Obuasi and Tarkwa have at least one super asphalt road link done and redone since the past 20 years, none of the Denkyira towns including our main city- Dunkwa have been privileged to reap from such governmental benevolence.
My recent research reveals that:
Dunkwa - Obuasi
Dunkwa - Praso
Dunkwa - Awisem
Dunkwa - Buabin
Dunkwa - Ayanfri
Dunkwa - Krobo
All these road connections are in deplorable and inhumane state.
GET UP, STAND UP AND BE COUNTED.
The indiscriminate granting of mining concessions on the Denkyira Land to the Chinese and the political stooges of the government who rape, shoot and kill Denkyira citizens is creating an abject havoc for our people. Our children are being deprived of education to better themselves in the future because of galamsey.
Our pregnant mothers, sisters, and nieces are bringing into this world defective and sick new born babies because of pollution of our drinking waters. CYANIDE, which is widely used to process these minerals illegally is very toxic. Even in a small amount when damped may smell like bitter almond or ammonia. It can enter the blood stream through inhalation, ingestion and absorption through the skin. It can also cause headaches, nausea, weak limps, difficulty in breathing and rapid pulse.
Incidentally, whilst the positive results of the galamsey activity occur to non- citizens of our traditional area, the externalities such as contamination of soil, food, pollution of water sources, and the risk to human security affect the Denkyira people, these unpatriotic people from elsewhere create these disaster and finally take the benefits out of Denkyira land to develop their various traditional areas and leave us hanging. There are no community centers, roads, clinics built to help our people. But we are conscious of the fact that the returns from these mining must be used to build a better future for Denkyiraman and the next generation to increase the level of resilience.
GET UP, STAND UP, AND BE COUNTED
At present there is only one resident medical doctor at Dunkwa Government hospital. Lack of infrastructures, are preventing our brothers and sisters of such noble profession to stay in Dunkwa in such deplorable conditions, whilst their counterparts are enjoying some beautiful amenities elsewhere.
GET UP, STAND UP, AND BE COUNTED
LEADERSHIP BY DEFAULT: Sometimes I wonder what the hell our elected representatives are doing. It’s quite obvious that the expected co-ordinated action amongst our members of parliament (MP’S MCE, DCE’S) etc have been superficial and lack the needed momentum for mobilization. I wonder whether DENKYIRA has any representation at all in the government. I don’t want to sound personal but it’s completely discouraging to hear only one MP’s voice arguing a case for Denkyira people on Television and Radio and even taking our issues to overseas to educate DENKYIRA citizens.
GET UP, STAND UP AD BE COUNTED
Dunkwa nearly lost the Circuit court to Cape Coast because of incompetency, narcissism, and I don’t care attitude amongst our elected officials. Had it not been two (2) God fearing employees of the court who at the last minute alerted the traditional council in one of its sittings.
The police high command has to report to Assin Fosu and the electricity co-orporation is under Obuasi –Ashanti.
The lower Denkyira Constituency district capital was given to Twifo-Hemang without any consultation with the constituency’s stakeholders. Discouragingly, the citizens of Denkyira form about 70% of the constituency’s population. To make matters worse, Twifo-Praso is some few kilometers away from Twifo-Hemang which is another district capital for the Twifo’s.
Unfortunately our former ineffective, incompetent, regional minister and her district executives and district assembly officials want us to believe that its only the work of the Electoral Commission. It’s devilish and incompetence.
PENTEMPREM “NANANOM” these are just some few enumerated problems existing in our paramountcy. Our brothers and sisters in Ghana are doing the best that they can. The recent demonstration in Dunkwa should alert this governmental administration, corrupt and incompetent public officials that Denkyira is fed up with this nonsense, incompetency, discrimination, and mediocrity.
GET UP, STAND UP, AND BE COUNTED
At this juncture, I will pause and tilt my hat to the die-hard Citizens of Denkyiraman associations all over the world especially in United States – New York, Maryland and in Toronto (CANADA) as well as London (Great Britain) – God bless you all for holding it down for DENKYIRAMAN.
GET UP, STAND UP, AND BE COUNTED
The Denkyira development conference is scheduled for Saturday December 6th 2014. The venue is KROBO (JUKWA). It’s a joint action of Denkyira Traditional council, Denkyira Development Association and Municipal/ District to be represented and all are cordially invited.
PENTEMPREM Nananom – we should all realize that things may come those who wait But only the things left over by those who hustled. The paramountcy of ours with its institution, whether governmental or traditional belongs to the people who inhabit it.
The Denkyira citizens whenever they shall grow weary of the existing government and its corrupt, incompetent and do-nothing public officials, they can exercise their constitutional rights to exhibit displeasure not to accept discrimination or mediocrity. The sons and daughters of Denkyiraman in the Diaspora, please shake yourselves up. We have being sleeping for quite too long, and Denkyiraman is crying her heart out for all of us.
Those who want to perpetuate the lies of permanency that DENKYIRA will never regain its past glory, I “Betcha” the devil is a liar. Denkyira – we are coming.
There is a lot to be done in the Denkyira land and we need all the sons and daughters of Denkyira to join their respective chapters whether in USA, CANADA, or GREAT BRITAIN.
The new admission to the New York chapter is Nana Dr. Eseim Kwakontan (III) - the Sanahene of Denkyira Traditional area and a senior advisor to the secretary general of the United Nations.
A recent visit to the New York chapter is Nana Boateng Sasere (III). The newly enstooled chief of Dominase (Tumantu) Dunkwa. An outstanding, voracious and action oriented Kind of guy duped the “legend”.Come on down, and lets all join hands together to rebuild our Paramount area.
This is our time, and this is our generation, and these are our challenges and we must face it head-on.
May God bless you, and fill your hearts with love to remember that we are who we are because of our upbringing.
Denkyiraman has done greatly for us all, and we should give back to Denkyiraman
God bless you all.
Nana Oduro Appiako II
KYIDOMHENE OF DENKYIRA TRADITIONAL AREA
