The paramount chief of Dormaa traditional area, Osagyefoo Oseadeeyo Nana Agyeman-Dadu II will pay a visit in August and September this year to his subjects living in the United States and Canada to discuss investment opportunities in the Dormaa traditional area of Ghana.
The Dormaa traditional area lies in the Northwestern part of Ghana with a population of about three hundred thousand (300,000),their main occupation is food and cash crops farming.
Speaking to Nana Agyeman-Dadu II this morning on his noble visit, he was sad to note that though the Dormaa area is abundant in food and cash crops such as coffee and cocoa, the deplorable conditions of roads leading to the villages that produce these crops scares would be buyers and truckers away and the few that are able to make it there charge prices the farmers could not afford. He also mentioned that Dormaaland has numerous traditional small scale industries, such as Gold-Smiting, timber industries like carpentry, furniture etc, but the people are stricken with poverty due to lack of investment in these industries and others to absorb the growing population into gainful employment. Also lack of capital to purchase items such as tractors to transport food to consumers leads to perennial problems of rotten food in the producing areas.
It is therefore to alleviate these problems that the Dormaahene is embarking on this investment tour to seek funding to purchase Tractors to facilitate affordable carting of farm produce from the hinterland to the marketing centers and to open up viable investment opportunities to Dormaa citizens and the general public.
It is the hope of Osagyefoo Oseadeeyo Nana Agyeman-Dadu II and the entire people of Dormaa that his upcoming trip will be made successful by the generous support of all.
