The Asantehene (King of Asante) Otumfuo Osei Tutu II honoured Edusei Foundation at the 5th Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Teachers Awards ceremony organized by the Asantehene at the Manhyia Palace on the 24th day of November 2015. This was in recognition of the Foundation’s enormous contribution towards teaching and learning in Ghana. With the vision of developing the youth for the future, it was realized that the Foundation had undertaken various endeavours to improve education of the youth in Ghana. This included collaboration with the Western Regional House of Chiefs to establish the Western Nananom Education Fund (WeNEF) to help improve education and also provide access to education for the brilliant but needy children in the Western Region and other parts of the country. Edusei Foundation provided seed money of fifty thousand Ghana Cedis (GH? 50,000.00) to the Western Nananom Education Fund (WeNEF).
Edusei Foundation has also donated fifty thousand Ghana Cedis (GH? 50,000.00) to the Catholic Charity of Ghana through the National Catholic Secretariat to undertake educational programs in five selected regions which happened to be among the poorest regions in Ghana. These were the the Upper West, Upper East, Northern, Brong Ahafo and Central regions. The foundation has also donated a full set of Musical Instruments to the Catholic Youth Organization at the Catholic Church at Roman Hill in Kumasi, to promote musical knowhow and interest among the youth of the church. Several Educational Youth workshops have also been organised in Ghana and abroad. The foundation has also made donations to several charitable homes and other institutions in Ghana which includes the Kumasi Children’s Home in Kumasi, Father’s Home in Butunagyebu Takoradi, Missionaries of Charity (Madam Theresa’s Sisters) in Kumasi, Osu Children’s Home in Accra, Tamale Children’s Home in Tamale, the Bekwai Methodist Church, and the Bekwai Infirmary at Asante Bekwai in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
The Foundation has also successfully organized youth workshops in various cities in North America, Europe and Ghana. The Foundation with a track record of conducting several of such programs in both Ghana and abroad organized a youth workshop in the Northern regional capital of Tamale after the maiden edition for the Northern Region of Ghana had already been organized in Savelugu and the patrons of the region were appreciative and they kindly requested for another such workshop to be organized.
The Edusei Foundation was founded by Dr. Kwame Bawuah Edusei, a US based medical practitioner, philanthropist and former diplomat who has committed his life as a private citizen to champion the cause of the underprivileged especially the youth and women in society. Edusei Foundation has been supporting and assisting various institutions to promote good health, education and other developmental issues.
