Ewes are ethnic group in the Eastern part of Ghana, Togo and Republic of Benin and language thereof commonly spoken is known as Ewe-Gbe. This necessitated the need of coming together to form associations in pursuit of common goals and promote same cultural heritage.

These branches constitute the august umbrella of Ewe Dukor - Germany. Their (Ewe Dukor) prime responsibilities are to regularize the activities of these sub-unions and also to enhancing the integration of the German citizens. The chairman of the occasion was Dr. (Med.) Yao Amengoh, whose inaugural speech centered on unity and tribal tolerance.

The venue of the program was VICOM community center Markgrafen Str. 67 in Berlin) and hosted by Berlin Ewe Union as they ceased the opportunity to officially outdoor their association in a simple but impressive style.

In an opening ceremony, the current president of the Berlin Ewe union, Mr. Simon Mensah emphasized the need of unity and mutual understanding within the society.” Unity is the key of progress and development” Mr. Mensah stressed.

Sakyi-Obuobi, (official representatives of the Ghana Embassy in Berlin) Alexandre Kanyi Logosu-Teko (Republic of Togo Embassy in Berlin), Mrs. (Pastor) Jere Aidoo –GBI church Ministry in Berlin.

Sight attraction of the whole show was when a procession of ewe cultural group led by Naga Patience Govina backed by Ashanti Kotoko group amid drumming and dancing, with applause from the audience ushered into the auditorium the following chiefs and community Leaders: Nana Ansu Gyeabour-(Ntipimhene); Nana Tabri Yeboah-(Abakomahene); Nana Nyame Yeboah –(Abontomahene); Nana Ampomah Ahwenie- (Dormaahenmaa).

Others are: Nana Akwayiwaa- Asiakwa (henmaa); Nana Pomaa-(Abrokyirehenmaa); Nana Sarpong – (Ntiakyerehenmaa); Nana Twum Barima I- (Bronghene); Nana Kyeremeh-(Berekumhene).

Notwithstanding, other unions in and around Berlin State were not excluded of the program. They are: Ashanti Kotoko Union; Ga-Adangbe; Upper West & East Unions, Northern Union as well as Action Union of Berlin. Their acrobatic performances and cultural dispensations were exceptional and generally explained the unity and togetherness of Africans specifically, Ghanaians.

Cultural Drums and dancing in the tune of cultural rhythm and melody of Kpalogo, Agbadza, Borborbo, Asante Adowa and others were there to entertain and cheer up the audience amid party services

To wrap up, everyone could deduce that, the event was successful and the attendance was very high. However, if the organizers had used such opportunity to explain the unions’ aims and objectives or organize fund-raising in support of the unions’ expenditure; the sky could have been their limit.

On this note, the executive body, the planning committee of the Ewe Dukor through this media would like to extend their profound appreciation for all those whose presence, diverse contribution; donations have amounted to the success of the event in Berlin. They say “akpe loo !!!”
