Flight drops passenger over pistol joke

Accra, April 13- Nana Agyenim Boateng, 50, a Ghanaian resident in the UK, who was scheduled to travel aboard Britania Airline bound for London, was this morning handed over to the airport police for jokingly declaring to a flight attendant that he had a gun in his hand luggage.

Boateng was flying back after a short holiday in Ghana.

An aviation security officer told the GNA that after the passengers had boarded the aircraft, a flight attendant was on hand to assist Nana Agya Anim Boateng to put his hand luggage into the overhead compartment. The flight attendant asked Nana Agya Anim Boateng whether he had any bottle in the hand luggage to which he answered in the negative but declared than he rather had a pistol.

The flight attendant got alarmed and drew the attention of the pilot who also called the aviation security and had Nana Agya Anim Boateng brought down from the plane.

Upon interrogation Nana Agya Anim Boateng said he was only joking and when a search was conducted on him no gun was found.

The pilot who would have none of that had Nana Agya Anim Boateng's hand luggage off-loaded and took off without him.
