to win Doe Adjaho’s former seat

A former treasurer and a founding father of NDCVirginia, Mr. Simon Mawutor, is highly tipped to win the Akatsi South parliamentary candidature of the National Democratic Congress.

Mr. Mawutor, an avid politician, was very instrumental in the formation and the growth of NDC Virginia, one of the most vibrant branches of the ruling National Democratic Congress in the diaspora. He led the party to work hand in hand with the leaders of the NDC in Accra during the 2008 historic victory of the NDC. He also helped initiate many projects that NDCVirginia undertook to help the party. Some of the projects that Mr. Mawutor spearheaded for the NDC party are 1) extension of high-speed internet connectivity to the NDC HQ 2) Setting up of aid funds for those hurt during the then Vice Presidential Nominee His Excellency John Dramani Mahama’s visit to his homeland when he was nominated by the then candidate John Atta Mills (May He Rest In Peace) as a running mate. It is this idea that Mr. Mawutor propelled to the national stage that culminated in the formation of the NDC Hero’s Fund which he (Mr. Mawutor) is an Administrator currently. 3) Raising funds to support the 2008 presidential elections, among others

After working with the NDCVirginia and other NDC members and branches in the USA, Mr. Mawutor left the comfort of his US base for Ghana to help the party in organizing the grassroots and to support in various functions.

Mr. Mawutor, before departing to Ghana in 2009, was a Security Expert attached to the World Bank in Washington, DC.

Mr. Mawutor is said to be very much liked among the constituents and the executives of Akatsi South and is highly favored to win the primaries and hence the parliamentary election.
