Former best Teacher donates Science Equipment to School.

Kumasi, Dec. 4, GNA- Mr. David Owusu Boadi, 1999 Best Science Teacher for the Ashanti Region, on Friday donated assorted Science Equipment to the New Tafo M/A Junior High School in Kumasi where he worked.

The equipment which cost over GH=A2400 were made up of microscopes, bench camps, gas jars, Bunsen burners, burettes, safety goggles, bench lamps among others.

Mrs. Victoria Owusu presented the equipment on behalf of her husband Mr Boadi, who is currently domiciled in the United Kingdom with his family. She said the donation was her family's widow's mite to support the development of science education in the country.

She pledged their willingness to continue supporting the school both in cash and in kind and appealed to the school's authorities to take good care of the items.

Mr Samuel Onyina, Kumasi Metropolitan Director of education who received the donation commended Mr Boadi and his family for the gesture, which he said, had come at the right time since the New Education Reforms focuses on Information and Communication Technology and Science. He challenged teachers to see themselves as reformers and shapers of the nation's human resources, and urged them to try and attain their set goals.

Mr Hans Anderson, Officer-In-Charge of the Manhyia Sub-Metro office of the Ghana Education Service, appealed to students to debunk the erroneous impression that Science and Mathematics were difficult, saying that, they only needed to study hard. He said it was only through serious learning that they could overcome the difficulties, adding that, with the new computer placement system, learning, was the only way they could enter the school of their choice. He urged them to abstain from pre-marital sex, which could lead to teenage pregnancy and Sexually Transmitted Diseases such as AIDS, gonorrhea and many others.
