“Person Of The Year Award”


Dr. Kwame Aniapam Boafo was presented with the “Person Of The Year Award” by the Ghanaian Engineers and Architects Association of America during their Annual Fund Raising Dinner Dance of the Association, in New York, in recognition of his untiring efforts towards community development both in the USA and Ghana. Introducing the Award Mr. David Nyarko, former President indicated that the Association was aware of the contribution of the Dr. Boafo and his organization the Kwakwaduam Association Inc. of New York in their outreach activities in Ghana and that the award was consistent with their desire to encourage such programs

The biography of Dr Boafo read at the function indicated that he had obtained as well an MPH from Columbia University and an MBA from the State University of New York and done a Fellowship in High Risk Pregnancy.

Dr. Boafo indicated that he was dedicating the Award to the Kwakwaduam Association Inc which has been instrumental and which had set the platform for his community service activities and his actions were consistent with the mission of the Organization which is to organize activities to enhance the quality of lives of those we left at home. The President of Kwakwaduam, Mr Mark Saforo, the Assistant Organizing Secretary, Ms Abena Yeboa and the Chief Whip, Ms Genevieve Aku Boohene were there to support him. Dr. Boafo thanked the GEAA immensely and indicated that he himself came from a family with a strong Engineering background with three of his siblings being Engineers and Architects.

In his annual address, The President of GEAAA, Mr. George Korley said that his organization was working hard to foster a partnership with their counterparts in Ghana for their mutual benefit and for development of projects in Ghana. He said scholarship schemes have been established by their Organization to help young Ghanaians pursuing engineering programs in Universities and Colleges in the US.

The Guest Speaker for the function was Dr. Kwame Boakye, President of the Ghana Institute of Engineers and Architects. He spoke on the role of Architects and Engineers in National Development.

Closing remarks was given by Hon Philbert Abaka Johnson, Deputy Permanent Representative of Ghana to the UN. It was a well-organized and well attended program
