The Ghana Association of the Capital District is celebrating Ghana's 50th Independence Day Celebration on Saturday, March 3 in Albany, capital of the State of New, USA. The event includes:a.. Receiving of Felicitations on behalf of the Government and people of Ghana from leaders of various Africa groups and nations in the Capital District
b.. A Panel Discussion on Perspectives from Ghanaians and non-Ghanaians on pre-independent, independent and post independent Ghana
c.. Cultural performances
d.. Dinner showcasing exquisite Ghanaian cuisine and other activities that would bring honor to mother Ghana
In connection with the Ghana @ 50 celebration, the Association has been invited to the New York State Assembly on March 6th, 2007 to witness the passing of a resolution, sponsored by the Hon Assemblyman Michael A. Benjamin, in honor of Ghana as she celebrates her Golden Jubilee. The Assemblyman is also hosting a reception in the name of Ghana after the Assembly function.
The presence of The Ghana Association of the Capital District in Albany, the seat of the New York State Government, gives the Association and for that matter mother Ghana an inordinate opportunity to liaise with wielders of power, both political and financial in New York State. The current partnership of the Association with the Westminster Presbyterian Church of Albany's Ghana Committee, has yielded a lot of dividend for Ghana. In collaboration with WPC the Association has been sending medical supplies to Ghana and assisting the Osu Children Home. We look forward to tap additional benefits for Ghana as we move forward. God bless Ghana. We wish Ghana a Happy and a Prosperous Golden Jubilee.
