Ghana's High Commissioner to UK joins Chief Imam at Maulid in London

Ghana’s High Commissioner to UK, HE Papa Owusu Ankomah last Saturday joined the Chief Imam, Sheik Dr Osmanu Nuhu Sharabutu and other Ghanaian Muslims resident in London to celebrate the Maulid, the observance of the birthday of Prophet Mohammed.

In his address at what he described as the biggest gathering of Ghanaian Muslims since he assumed posting, the High Commissioner advised Muslims to put the skills and knowledge they have acquired in the UK at the disposal of Ghana.

“Let the the celebrations of the Prophet’s birth energize you to continue to strive for peace, and to bring glory to Islam and mother Ghana..”, the High Commissioner urges the gathering.

He also counselled the gathering to emulate the example of Prophet Mohammmed who founded Islam as a religion of peace.

Dignitaries present at the ceremony included Dr Audu Rauf, Registrar of the Pharmacy Council of Ghana, who was the chairman for the event, Bishop Frempong Manso, Archbishop Of the Apostolic Congress of Great Britain and Sheik Masrur, Chief Imam Of the United Nations.

Also present were executives of the UK branch of the NDC and NPP.
