Shatta Wale ready for Maryland, Chicago and New York!
The man of the moment in Ghana music circles, Shatta Wale, landed in New York yesterday, July 22 2014 to begin his first tour of the United States (USA) to win “souls” for his “Shatta movement”. In a video clip on his Facebook wall this morning, Shatta Wale was all high praises to his manager, Bull Dog and went on touting his record by saying “ we talk and we de do” …meaning they talk loud but deliver what the fans want most….that is, classic and gallant performance! He assured his fans in Maryland, where he was heading this morning, Chicago and New York that he will definitely mount the stage in these cities. Shatta will perform at Maryland on July 24 2014 and hit New York’s mega Ghanafest on August 9 2014. He is scheduled to be at the Granddaddy of all the Ghanafest’s in the diaspora, Chicago’s Ghanafest, which is scheduled at the Historic Washington Park on Saturday July 26 ,2014 from 11 A.M to 10 P.M.
Shatta Walle won the 2014 Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year , the Vodafone Song of the Year and Artiste of the Year Awards in Ghana.
The organizers of Chicago’s Ghanafest may have done themselves good by inviting a high profile and popular artist to perform at the festival! Recent Ghanafest’s here have seen dwindling attendance and high entrance fees without efforts by the GNC to attract attendees by way of high profile performers. Besides Shatta Wale, the organizers of Chicago’s Ghanafest have lined up other high level local performers. Chicago’s own Nat Awuni, a local Gospel music giant, will mount the stage at 12 noon with beautiful selections of Gospel Songs. Top Dee Jays in the Chicago area, such as D.J’s Chief, Bonsu (he was awesome at Linda’s birthday party) and a host others will also be in attendance. “This is one hell of a Ghanafest to miss” Steve Dei, the organizing secretary of the GNC quipped to Ghanaweb this morning. Don’t miss the Shatta movement ….its heading to Maryland, then to Chicago and New York. Speaking to Paa Kwesi Sam, the Vice President of the GNC this morning, he debunked rumors festering in Chicago that this year’s Ghanafest is cancelled. He emphasized that Ghanafest 2014 will be one of the best and asked its patrons to attend in their numbers.
Governor Pat Quinn and other dignitaries will grace the occasion.
