For the second time within two years, the versatile community newspaper ? The Ghanaian News - published in Toronto has been recognized by the National Ethnic Press and Media Council of Canada for its outstanding contributions to the mosaic Canadian society.
The distinguished award was received by the Publisher/Editor of the newspaper, Emmanuel Ayiku at an awards ceremony organized by the council at the suite of Lieutenant Governor of Ontario at Queen?s Park, Toronto on September 15, 2005.
The citation accompanying the award, which was presented by the Lieutenant Governor, Hon. James K. Bartleman read in part, ?in recognition of his efforts in promoting the Ghanaian traditions and interests of his community, his leadership and dedication for the promotion of multiculturalism, human rights, respect of human values, integrity and equality among all Canadians.?The Ghanaian News received its first award from the Ethnic Press and Media Council of Canada in 2003.
